Mulyana’s Artistic Journey: A Solo Exhibition and Creative Collaboration with The Westin Surabaya
The exhibition explores Mulyana’s creative journey and his ability to transform simple knitted materials into thought-provoking installations. Through his iconic character, Mogus (short for Monster Gurita Sigarantang), Mulyana conveys a powerful narrative about the interconnectedness of humans, their alter egos, and nature. The intricate modular designs speak of the beauty of transformation and the importance of preserving the environment. At the heart of the exhibition is Mogus, Mulyana’s alter ego—a whimsical octopus-like creature representing transformation and resilience. The installations, crafted from hand-knit materials, highlight the artist’s philosophy of sustainability and his deep respect for the environment. Each piece carries a story, inviting visitors to reflect on their own relationships with nature, identity, and change. The title itself, “A Man, A Monster, and The Sea,” hints at the artist’s exploration of human duality, using the vastness of the sea as a metaphor for life’s mysteries and possibilities.
