From themed buffets and premium omakase dinners to family-friendly interactive activities, Taste of Japan offers a culinary journey that goes beyond a traditional dining experience.
According to Ismet Ismatulloh, Commercial Director of DoubleTree by Hilton Surabaya, the program reflects the hotel’s commitment to bringing authentic international dining experiences to Surabaya. Through the presence of Chef Rentaro Fujii, guests are invited not only to enjoy Japanese cuisine but also to gain a deeper appreciation of Japan’s culinary traditions and culture.

One of the main highlights of the program takes place at Makan Kitchen, where guests can enjoy a special Buy 1 Get 1 Japanese Buffet promotion throughout the event period. From Sunday to Thursday, diners can experience the restaurant’s International Buffet complemented by a dedicated Japanese Station featuring a selection of traditional dishes. Meanwhile, every Friday and Saturday, Makan Kitchen transforms into a Full Japanese Buffet, offering a more extensive menu that includes sushi, sashimi, tempura, and many other beloved Japanese specialties.
For guests seeking a more exclusive culinary experience, Taste of Japan also presents the Omakase Experience with Chef Rentaro Fujii, held every Thursday and Friday at Colonial, Makan Kitchen. Following the omakase philosophy, which translates to “I leave it up to the chef,” diners will enjoy a carefully curated menu crafted directly by Chef Rentaro using premium ingredients and traditional Japanese techniques.

The experience is available in two options: a 10-course menu priced at IDR 950,000++ per person and a 12-course menu priced at IDR 1,100,000++ per person. Taste of Japan also extends beyond the dining table with the Sushi Roll Class, held every Saturday and Sunday on Level 5.
