Yogyakarta is proud to be able to organize such a great event; Jogja Tourism Festival 2019 (JTF 2019) on 12-27 September 2019. JTF 2019 organizes 23 spectacular series of events which are already recognized and listed on the agenda of United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) to welcome World Tourism Day on 27 September 2019.
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is the United Nations agency responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism. As the leading international organization in the field of tourism, UNWTO promotes tourism as a driver of economic growth, inclusive development and environmental sustainability and offers leadership and support to the sector in advancing knowledge and tourism policies worldwide.
“On Wednesday, 11 September, JTF 2019 has been officially recognized as UNWTO Tourism Day events, meaning Yogyakarta is the only venue in Southeast Asia that directly involved in the World Tourism Day celebration,” the Committee Chairman of JTF 2019, Mr. Muhaiminul Adlil Haq informed the media on 15 September.
JTF committee also have an interview session with The Ministry of Tourism of Republic of Indonesia; Mr. Arief Yahya and have made the minister amazed and wowed knowing the entire agenda of JTF 2019.
“When we presented the agenda of JTF 2019 to Mr. Arief Yahya, he is amazed and wowed. The minister was so surprised that Yogyakarta could organize such a big event, “Adlil adds. “We dedicate this month for tourism in Yogyakarta, we work together for tourist development, especially to prepare Yogyakarta as one of leading tourism in Southeast Asia in 2025,” he said.
Chairperson of DPD ASITA (Association of the Indonesian Tours & Travel Agencies) Yogyakarta Special Region; Mr. Sudianto confirms that JTF 2019 is not ASITA’s event. It belongs to Yogyakarta tourism. More than 60 associations and tourism communities are actively involved in launching the JTF 2019. “For this event all parties have collaborated hand in hand to achieve one big goal; to be the leading tourism in Southeast Asia in 2025,” explained Mr. Sudianto.
Head of Tourism Departement in Bantul, Mr. Kwintarto Heru Prabowo stated, he is also proud and grateful that Bantul is chosen to be the host as well as the main venue for JTF 2019. Community active participation would help to develop tourism in Yogyakarta. “Collaboration of tourism actors is very important. If the concept and development are supported by all private sectors and the community, people will get greater benefits. Hopefully this event will bring Yogyakarta tourism to the next level.” He said exciting. Mr. Kwintarto also hopes that when JTF 2019 is done, all tourism actors will still continue providing inputs to relevant agencies, including to the Tourism Office so that tourism in Yogyakarta can learn and improve in the future.
JTF 2019 commenced on 12 September and will finish on 27 September at Parangkusumo Sand Dunes. JTF 2019 presents 8 Knowledge Exchange & Workshop sessions, 4 Arts & Cultural Festivals, and 11 events during the World Tourism Day on 27 September.
