Only have three days to visit Jakarta? It may not enough to fully explore the big city, but you can enjoy varieties of activities, including snorkeling and ice skating! This is our city guide for a family 3-days trip to Jakarta:


Explore Kota Tua area to know the history of Jakarta. First of all, visit all the museums surrounding the square. Museum Wayang, Museum Fatahillah, and Museum Batik are open every day except on Monday.After visiting the museum, take a break at the authentic Batavia Café or go to Historia café for a modern interpretation of Indonesian traditional street foods. Around the area, you may also find ongoing exhibitions, showcasing local talents.

After that, go to Sunda Kelapa port and Pasar Ikan to see the local residences doing their activities around the port. You may buy souvenirs from the small shops along the street. They also offer a boat trip from Pasar Ikan back to Sunda Kelapa, but remember to bargain well before you step into the boat. It is only recommended if you have a native friend or trusted guide with you.

Visit Batavia Marina Restaurant at Sunda Kelapa area to have a nice meal with a great view during the evening. The restaurant also owns a ferry to carter. If you are lucky, you may meet the Jakarta Yacht club, usually hanging around the restaurant.

One day trip to Pulau Seribu! There are many beautiful islands in the area to visit, but the most popular ones are Pulau Macan, Pulau Sepa, and Pulau Pari. They are great because the water is clean and the facilities are well equipped. You may find many tour packages online, usually varied from IDR 600,000 to IDR 950,000 per person. It includes fun water activities like snorkeling and banana boat, lunch, and accommodation. The trip usually starts from Ancol Marina and only takes 1,5 hours boat trip. It will be a fun-packed day for the whole family!

Shop till drop! Jakarta is a heaven for shoppers. You can find luxury brands at Plaza Indonesia, Plaza Senayan, and Senayan City. Or you can find cheap clothes and great bargains at Tanah Abang, Pasar Baru, or Mangga Dua. For fun activities, go to Mall Taman Anggrek in West Jakarta to ice skate, or Pacific Place in South Jakarta where your kids can play around at KidZania. Mall Kelapa Gading and Kota Kasablanka Mall are recommended if you are looking for a hearty meal during your shopping free. There are of course a long list of other malls and shopping arena you can visit in Jakarta. The malls open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM.
