The British School Jakarta (BSJ) has been awarded Gold Greenship Certification by Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) in a certificate handover ceremony held in the school area in Bintaro, South Tangerang. This occasion marked BSJ as the first school in Indonesia to receive the Greenship certification.

BSJ scored the required number of points to achieve gold status in the assessment process which includes: appropriate site development, energy efficiency and conservation EEC (Energy Efficiency and Conservation), water conservation, material resource and cycle, indoor health and comfort, as well as the building environment management.

Iwan Prijanto, Chairperson of Green Building Council Indonesia said “It is an honour for me to present this Greenship certification to BSJ as the first school in Indonesia to receive this Gold certificate. This is a very exciting project for GBCI, since we believe that a school is more than just a building, it is also about the learning and education infrastructure and bringing value to the school’s stakeholders and environment.”

David Butcher, British School Jakarta Principal said “It is a greater honour for us to become the first school to achieve the Gold standard in Greenship. At the BSJ, pioneering is at the heart of what we do and we are very pleased to become the pioneer school for the Gold Greenship standard. We believe that this is an essential part to ensure the wellbeing of our community and also to bring a positive impact to the environment and in the way we conduct our education”.
