On 22nd September 2019, hotels in Jakarta under Marriott International conducted the sixth ‘Run to Give’. This event is a part of Marriott International hotels across 23 countries and territories concurrently in the Asia Pacific for this fund-raising initiative. Since the event inaugurated in 2014, ‘Run to Give’ has become an integral part of the company’s tradition in cultivating a people-first environment that promotes associate well-being and drives its people to care for the communities where they do business.
“The annual charity run is a key activity of our company’s Take Care program that empowers associates to live our culture. Through the program, we encourage our associates to take care of their physical well-being, while providing them with the opportunity to be part of a community that respects, shares kindness and contributes to a more compassionate world,” said Regan Taikitsadaporn, Chief Human Resources Officer, Marriott International Asia Pacific.
Marriott International Hotels in Jakarta have worked hand-in-hand, putting in their time and energy to organize a run worthy to be proud of. Pooling in a total 2133 runners including 1698 associates and 435 non-associates who contribute Rp130,000 each and able to join the event with full entertainment after the 7K run. Apart from donating the money to Yayasan Emmanuel for food rescue program, this year the collected money is also donated to SOS Children’s Village, a nonprofit organization supporting children's rights and committed to providing children who have or are at risk of losing parental care to and homes.
Runners will follow the route starting from Le Meridien, turning in Bundaran HI and Semanggi and eventually ending up in Le Meridien again, completing a 7-Kilometer run. All the runners to cross the finish line were given a medal as motivation for them to run and exercise. Last year, “Run to Give” took place in 109 locations across the Asia Pacific, which involved more than 10,500 associates from 546 properties with nearly 36,700 runners participating, raising over US$400,000 supporting non-profit partners, selected local charities across the Asia Pacific as well as contributed towards Marriott disaster relief efforts. With a growing hotel footprint underpinned by the strength of its associates, Marriott International aims to continue creating a lasting positive impact on the local communities it serves, guided by its social impact and sustainability platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction.
