The Orient Jakarta, a brand new boutique hotel right in the heart of Central Jakarta has opened its door to guests. Located right on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, with close proximity to office buildings, malls, and entertainment venues.
The Orient Jakarta is designed to bring guests to a nostalgic journey inspired by a bygone era of The East. The guestrooms and public areas of the hotel are expertly curated to breathe life and character into the hotel. The Orient Jakarta is designed by award-winning landscape architect and maximalist interior designer, Bill Bensley, having designed some of the world’s most iconic resorts, The Orient Jakarta is one of Bensley’s few city hotels.
A few years ago, Bensley discovered a treasure trove of turn-of-the-century batik print records in a small Canggu antique store. He immediately knew that these had to become the DNA for one of his projects. The traditional art of batik, nowadays considered tedious, old-fashioned, and matronly, came alive with vibrant detail and intricate beauty on the many pages of these hand-bound books. They were hand-drawn and painted records of hundreds of batik patterns, collected by a Dutch trader who had developed batik wax cloth to sell in Europe
For The Orient Jakarta, a 32-floor skyscraper in the heart of the bustling Indonesian capital, BENSLEY honored the traditional art form with a pop art twist. Elements are drawn from the batik and completely oversized, while gorgeous patterns come to life behind them. From the Lobby, complete with restaurant Caspar, to the Rooftop Bar, with restaurants and pools on the 32nd floor, the DNA of The Orient Jakarta is that of traditional batik made modern, and tied together with thousands of collected antiques and enchanting upcycled pieces, for a unique experience in a city that is anything but usual.
The Orient Jakarta has opened its doors to 153 guest rooms; consists of 100 Superior rooms, 10 Deluxe rooms, 15 Grand Deluxe rooms, 20 Orient rooms, 5 Grand Orient rooms, 1 Orient Suite, 1 Presidential Junior Suite and 1 Presidential Suite all whimsically adored with Bensley’s oversized batik patterns. Seven room categories will be available ranging from 32sqm to 265 sqm, each room will feature panoramic views of Jakarta skyline. Room sizes
