The Mooncake Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is the second most important festival in Chinese tradition, following the Chinese New Year. Observed on the 15th day of the 8th month in the Chinese calendar, when the moon shines its brightest, this festival brings together Asian communities, particularly in China, and serves as an occasion for family members and friends to gather and savor mooncakes. In the archipelago, Indonesians of Chinese descent usually celebrate this occasion by exchanging mooncakes with loved ones and business associates.
