This Ramadan, Raffles Jakarta presents A Taste of Home, an Indonesian culinary journey by Executive Chef Muhammad Maliki that reflects the intimate relationship between food, memory, and belonging. Rooted in his childhood in Madura, the experience begins with Rujak Petis — once a dish he avoided, yet ever present in his home, where his mother would buy it daily as a reason to gather with neighbours and share stories. Over time, it became a symbol of maternal care and quiet familiarity. The journey continues aboard the Mutiara Selatan train from East Java, where Bistik marked cherished moments of return, and later to Bandung, where seafood along Jalan Cilaki transformed through love and companionship, proving that flavours become meaningful through the people with whom they are shared.

Through 15 thoughtfully curated dishes, Chef Maliki brings these chapters of his life to the table, inviting families and guests to rediscover Indonesian flavours as reflections of memory, affection, and homecoming. Created for a meaningful Ramadan gathering, A Taste of Home encourages diners to slow down, reconnect, and experience how each dish can quietly carry us back to where we feel most at home.
