COVID-19 which is currently becoming a pandemic has a very large impact on the Indonesian tourism sector, especially the economy of hospitality and tourism workers. To prevent the spread of the virus, the government required a tourism destination to be closed temporarily. This makes many tourism workers are forced to be laid off and no longer have income.
Seeing this impact, The Lodge Foundation runs a fundraising project through the sale of French Apple Tart where all profits will be donated to the tour guides, especially those who live in the area of Bandung and surrounding. This fundraising activity is called “TART FOR HOPE” and the Apple Tart is a hereditary recipe from the family of Mrs. Heni Smith, Founder of The Lodge Group.
Until now, Apple Tart has sold more than 600 pieces which is available in three sizes with prices starting from IDR 45,000 to IDR 150,000. For this project, The Lodge Foundation aims to reach up to 1,000 pieces Apple Tart before the Idul Fitri day arrives. Baking process and sales are carried out at Herbal House by The Lodge, located at Jalan Sumur Bandung No. 6, Dago, Bandung, and this Apple Tart can be purchased for takeaway or delivered through a delivery service.
Through this project, Mrs. Heni Smith as the initiator of this activity hopes that tourism worker remains active and do not lose their spirit in facing the crisis. In the interview today at Herbal House by The Lodge, Ms. Heni Smith said, “I motivate myself and the staff at The Lodge Group by running the TART FOR HOPE project and baking at home. All profits will be donated to organizations that help Tour Guides without income. We must work hand in hand to get through this crisis with the hope of providing a positive mindset and stay motivated.”
