A French classical music pianist, Simon Ghraichy (33 years), performed stunningly at the Piano Recital at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel Bandung on May 12th.

For approximately 1 hour 15 minutes, Simon showed his talent in playing the piano by presenting the composition of Ernesto Lecuona (4 Afro-Cuban Dances), Isaac Albeniz (Asturias), Robert Schumann (Estudes in Variation Form on Theme Based on the Symphony No. 7 Op .92 by Ludwig van Beethoven, Humoreske op. 20-II, Hastig-Die innere stimme), Chilly Gonzales (Robert on the Bridge), Charles-Valentin Alkan, Ariel Ramirez (Alfonsina) y El mar), and Franz Liszt (Hungarian Fantasy).

In each tone that was released by his finger skills in playing the piano, it was able to enchant the audience starting at 19.45 at night. At each break of the song, Simon also explained the background or a brief story about the song he was carrying. This made the audience understand the meaning of the song better and absorb Simon’s emotions more deeply. Simon is not an ordinary classical music pianist, because his style is very “young”. He broke the opinion of classical music is boring music, because in reality the audience was very entertained by Simon’s appearance, both from the song and the expression of Simon’s piano game.

Right at 9:00 p.m. Simon finished hypnotizing the audience after the encore performance. The audience was then allowed to take pictures with the pianist and can buy a CD that was immediately signed by Simon. Not many piano concert activities like this are held especially in the city of Bandung. This then became a very rare and meaningful moment for the audience.

The concert was a part of charity so that part of the results of the concert will be donated to one of the foundations in the city of Bandung. “The presence of Simon Ghraichy in Ramadhan like this is a perfect moment for us to hold concerts with charity goals. There was no ticket purchased because the audience only pays the F&B Package or dinner to break the fast. and some of the proceeds will be donated to the foundation of disables in the city of Bandung,” said Franklyn Y. Kocek, General Manager of Four Points by Sheraton Bandung.

This event was the result of the collaboration of the French Institute of Indonesia in Indonesia (IFI) in Bandung with the Four Points by Sheraton Bandung. In which was motivated by the aim of cultural exchange fully supported by the Institute Français in Paris and the Indonesian government.
