Finding great art galleries in Bandung can be a little bit tricky. While the creative industry is getting popular, proper galleries with active programs or regular exhibitions are quite rare. Here we list some recommended art galleries in Bandung you should check out while in town!

1. NuArt Sculpture Park

The open air art gallery primarily exhibits the works of the sculptor Nyoman Nuarta. The sculptor grew up very closely to nature, so many of his works highlight the harmony between human, nature, and The Creator. Some of his notable pieces are “Arjuna Wijaya” Jakarta, “Jalesveva Jayamahe” in Surabaya, and “Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park” or “GWK” in Bali. At NuArt, the facilities are designed to nurture the development of Indonesian art, design & culture. For this propose, there are Museum & Gallery, Theater, Street Theater, Nyoman Nuarta’s Workshop, and Sculpture Park around the area. 2. Selasar Sunaryo Art Space

Selasar Sunaryo

September 2018 marks the 20th anniversary of Selasar Sunaryo Art Space (SSAS). They are a non-profit organization that dedicates its space for art and visual culture in Indonesia. Besides the regular exhibition, SSAS also offers many programs, including music concert, theatre play, film screening, talks, and children activities. The ultimate concept of Selasar reflects the aim of the space to connect artworks with audiences and to bring different cultures together. Visitors can enter the gallery without having to pay an entrance fee. However, some art exhibitions may charge for tickets. For those who want to spend a longer time at Selasar Sunaryo can also visit Kopi Selasar to enjoy some Nusantara delicacies and local coffee.

3. Galeri Soemardja

Founded in 1974, Galeri Soemardja is one of the oldest art galleries in Bandung that are still operating. The Gallery is a part of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), acting as an educational complement to their educational activities. It continues to hold regular art exhibitions, featuring both renowned and fresh talents in Indonesia. The space supports visual art practices the most, including industrial design, architecture, craft, and photography.

4. Roemah Seni Sarasvati

Located in Jl. Jendral Sudirman, Roemah Seni Sarasvati (RSS) is one of the popular creative centers in Bandung. It has a mission to introduce a variety of arts and culture to the community. The building itself is quite unique because it was built in the 20s. In result, visitors will be able to enjoy the classic design of Dutch-China architecture in the colonial time. Here, artists can also spend the time to discuss ideas and join regular workshops. RSS is managed by Sarasvati Art Management.

5. Griya Puisi Tanpa Kata

The House of Poetry Without Word

“Griya Puisi Tanpa Kata” (The House of Poetry With­out Words) is a cul­ture house estab­lished in 2005, which pri­mary col­lec­tion is excep­tional works from paint­ing mae­stro, Sri­hadi Soedar­sono. What’s more, it also stores a range of art pieces from across Asia. The collection is varied from painting, porce­lains, wooden work to stone sculptures. Guest is welcomed to visit this museum and will be guided by staffs who will explain the history of every item. The private collection was built in 1985 and keep growing until now. 6. Bandung Creative Space

Bandung Creative Hub

Built with the support from the local government, Bandung Creative Hub is a platform for creative industries in the city.
