To preserve the environment, Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach released 99 baby turtles into the ocean on Friday, 27 August 2021 in the Benoa Beach area.
This action is part of the hotel sustainability program, in response to nature conservation, especially in Bali. “We found a batch of 118 turtle eggs on 12 August 2021 at the beach in front of our resort. We collected and buried in the sand with the date posted. It takes around 45 days before the eggs hatch. However, it hatched nearly a month earlier than we had expected.” The General Manager of Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach, Masaya Hasebe explained.
He added, “Turtles have an amazing sense of location and tracking because the mother turtle came back to the beach since the last time was in 2018 to lay their eggs. The spiritual meaning of turtle is finding the way to move forward and live through heavy times. Also symbolizes longevity, perseverance, steadfastness, protection, retreat, healing, tranquility, the Earth, and transformation. We are delighted to be trusted by their instincts to conserve and monitor until released into the mother ocean.” The event was witnessed directly by the head of Bali Natural Resources and Conservation Center, Agus Budi Santoso, hotel guests, and the local communities.
The resort management also plans to further extend the sustainability program to reach more actions to save the planet.
