Hyatt of Sanur Kite Festival: A Sky Full of Kites

Hyatt Regency Bali and its sister property, Andaz Bali, are thrilled to announce the upcoming annual Kite Festival, a celebration of tradition and community spirit. Scheduled for Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the festival will take place on the beautiful beachfront of Hyatt Regency Bali, inviting participants and guests to experience the joy and nostalgia of kite flying.

Reflecting on last year’s successful kite festival event which captivated participants, guests and passer-by with the stunning display of gigantic kites soaring along the beachfront, both resorts are building excitement based on the success and this year’s event promises an even more breathtaking experience.

In the spirit of camaraderie and creativity, dedicated associates from both resorts have spent the last month designing, constructing, and testing their kites, which will be showcased during the event with a special theme; Embracing the elements where dry leaves will be used as the primary component for this year’s kite festival. This event promises to capture the essence of traditional Balinese kite flying, reflecting a commitment to cultural preservation and sustainability.

Event Highlights:

Parade: The festival will begin with a lively parade from both resorts to the main festival area on the beach. Each of the five participating teams will present a welcome dance, highlighting their unique cultural expressions and setting the stage for a day of fun and celebration.
Kite contest and dance performance: In alignment with efforts to promote sustainability, participants are encouraged to create their kites using recyclable materials. Five teams, consisting of associates from departments such as Culinary, F&B, Front Office, Rooms, Recreation, Housekeeping, and Back of the House, will compete, showcasing kites that carry distinct meanings and stories.
Judging and Awards: Esteemed Balinese kite experts Pak Kadek Armika will serve as a guest judge alongside the management team and one special guest from each resort, evaluating the kites based on the originality of their concepts, the stories behind their designs, and their flight performance and stability.
The Hyatt of Sanur Kite Festival is not only a tribute to traditional Balinese kite flying but also a testament to the innovative spirit and teamwork of the associates from Hyatt Regency Bali and Andaz Bali.
