World’s Top Safari Stay Resort

Already one of the world’s most popular destinations, Bali now has another tourism asset to its name, since Plataran Menjangan was named among the Best of the Best resorts in the World’s Top Safari Stays category of TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice awards.

Located in West Bali, Plataran Menjangan is the only destination in Indonesia and one of only two destinations in Asia to have received an award in this category. The award adds to Plataran Menjangan’s growing collection of accolades, including 2nd place in the ‘Best of Asia Pacific’ category at the Top 100 Sustainable Destinations 2018 by Green Destinations, winner of the Global Forum on Human Settlements for Planning and Design, and Gold winner at the Tri Hita Karana awards.

The Plataran Menjangan Masterplan was designed by Hitesh Mehta of HM Design, who is considered one of the world’s leading authorities, practitioners and researchers in the physical planning of sustainable tourism/ecotourism and the architectural aspects of landscape ecolodges. In 2006, National Geographic named Hitesh Mehta one of the word’s Five Pioneers of Sustainable Tourism.

With the reopening of the international tourism market, many tourists are eager to return to Bali and are seeking travel inspiration. Before the pandemic, South Bali was the primary destination for foreign tourists, but now Bali has Plataran Menjangan, which can be the new resort of choice. Here guests can enjoy lowland rainforest ecosystems, beaches, coral reefs, and mangrove forests that are more than a thousand years old. They can also observe the Critically Endangered Bali starling, while interacting with the surrounding community through a program of activities provided by Plataran Menjangan.

Located in a 382-hectare forest that is home to 175 species of flora and 167 species of fauna, Plataran Menjangan is an icon and pioneer of ecotourism that provides upscale resort facilities and luxurious experiences. The resort features 19 villas, an ocean club, spa center, exclusive restaurant and a fleet of three private phinisi sailing ships and yachts that explore the exotic surroundings of Menjangan Island, framed by four surrounding mountains.

Tourists can also engage in several nature activities that are ideally suited to couples, families, or even solo travelers, with guest activities that can be customized according to their requirements. Activities include morning walks through the forest and along the coastline on the Trail of Life program, which can be enjoyed by tourists and provides a deeper meaning to life. This activity can also be combined with a safari picnic session, which includes a photo session to capture the moment. Other activities that are no less fascinating are water sports such as snorkeling, kayaking, diving or sailing to Menjangan Island using Plataran Menjangan’s luxurious private yacht or private phinisi.

Furthermore, there is also the uniqueness of ecotourism at Plataran Menjangan, where tourists not only interact with nature but can also connect with the local community, through picnic programs in vineyards or cooking classes at local residents’ homes, using fresh raw materials harvested directly from the surrounding sea.

Plataran Menjangan also has a CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability) certificate from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. This means tourists who visit need not worry about cleanliness, health, safety and environmental sustainability during their stay.
