Luxury artisan jeweler John Hardy unveils its second design collaboration with activist and model Adwoa Aboah. Titled “Mad Love,” the capsule collection evolves Aboah’s role from muse to design partner. It also underscores a shared commitment to celebrating radical, authentic, and inclusive love through unapologetic individuality and meaningful human connections.

The collection’s name speaks to this foundation by articulating the heart of Aboah’s self-expression philosophy: a passionate acceptance of oneself and others, flaws and all. Through hands-on design sessions, Aboah and the John Hardy design team translated these inspirations into a 14-piece collection that combines the jeweler’s Classic Chain with symbolic hearts.

The incorporation of Classic Chain reflects Aboah’s personal devotion to the iconic design, which is “Mad Love” manifests as super-fine links. The collection’s playful hearts nod to her multiple heart tattoos, which embody Aboah’s co-existing power and vulnerability. Originating from her freehand sketches and recalling the autograph on Aboah’s personal notes, each heart is wholly unique — just like its wearer. The dynamic combination of the hearts paired with structural, sinuous chain links mimic love’s fluid juxtaposition of strength and spontaneity while providing character and edge synonymous with both Aboah and John Hardy.

The collection’s signature elements appear in seven distinct designs, each available in reclaimed 14K gold or sterling silver and collectively representative of Aboah’s trademark penchant for layering and stacking statement pieces. The Classic Chain Heart Bracelet and Classic Chai Toggle Bracelet bring love full circle and articulate its reciprocal nature. The designed-to-customize Chain Heart Necklace in 40” can be worn in multiple ways and layered with Classic Chain Foxtail Heart Necklace. Earrings include the Classic Chain Heart Stud Earrings, Classic Chain Heart Drop Earrings, and Classic Chain Set of 3 Single Stud Earring, which feature a mix-and-match of hearts and a single bar that convey the collective “bold alone, stronger together” ethos that underpins Gurls Talk, Aboah’s female-empowerment platform.

This same dedication to communal empowerment informs the collection’s use of reclaimed and sustainably sourced 14k gold and silver, which ensures the pieces remain accessible to a wide audience and encourage self-gifting.

“Mad Love” is available starting January 15, 2021, at johnhardy.com, John Hardy SoHo Boutique, NYC, John Hardy International Boutiques, and Nordstrom, with designs ranging from $250 to $6,500 USD.
