The Independent School of Jakarta may be new to the city but it is a school that is built on a British heritage of exceptional education. Opening to boys and girls aged two to eight from September 2021, it will expand to offer education to children up to the age of thirteen on it’s brand new purpose built campus in the heart of Pondok Indah. The School boasts outstanding facilities, world-class teachers and many new opportunities for children who will go on to become the leaders of the future.

The History of The Independent School of Jakarta
ISJ has been chartered by The School Development Foundation which was created to expand the provision of world-class education around the world. It has founded a number of very highly regarded British international schools across China, the USA, South East Asia, Brazil and Europe. The Foundation brings it’s experience of these schools to Jakarta, ensuring that ISJ will provide the same levels of exceptional education.

What Makes ISJ so Exceptional?
ISJ will be a small and exclusive school where children will be individually nurtured to ensure their unique skills and talents are found and cultivated. With just one class in every year, children will be known personally by every member of the Senior Leadership team as well as the experienced teaching team and dedicated support staff. This allows for a unique and rewarding school experience.

Classrooms will be filled with the finest resources, which have never been used! They will have a bespoke STEM lab which will be filled with specialist equipment for children to discover their love of Science and Engineering. Every child will have the opportunity to find their creative flair in the Schools’ Music Room and Art Studio. Competitive sport is an important part of ISJ too and this is reflected in their extensive sports curriculum and impressive sports facilities which include an outdoor sports pitch, indoor gym, climbing wall and swimming pool. ISJ’s youngest children will also benefit from dedicated state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor facilities to promote a love of learning and academic excellence from the very start.

The Academic Director
And the captain leading this ship?  (Don’t forget to ask to see the school’s actual pirate ship if you go on a private tour) Emma Webb, who has relocated to Jakarta to lead the school as Academic Director. Emma moves to Jakarta from an exceptional educational background in the UK where she was most recently the Headmistress of Queen’s College Preparatory School in Central London, as well as being a trained inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).

Emma is joined by her Husband, Warren Webb, who is the Director of Operations and Registrar having previously been a Bursar at independent schools in London and Windsor, and their cat, Mason (who has no role at the school as of yet!)
