Earth Hour 'Invest in Our Planet" at The Laguna, A Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali

The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali held an Earth Hour  “Invest in our Planet” celebration in the serene setting of its beachfront restaurant. Earth Hour is held  worldwide annually, encouraging individuals, communities, households, and businesses to turn off their  non-essential lights for one hour to symbolize everyone's commitment to the beloved planet, to let the  planet breathe, and to restore natural resources that have been lost. This year, by turning off all the  electricity for one hour, the resort managed to save 520 kWh of energy.

With the electric lights out, the resort invites guests to savor delightful cocktail creations while the  talented culinary team serves a zero-waste four-course menu in a peaceful candlelit setting. The resort  aims to promote sustainability and reduce food waste by utilizing every part of the food, especially  salmon, in all of the dishes, from the entrées to desserts. Fresh local vegetables from PLAGA Farm play an important role in the dinner, enabling guests to taste delicacies and foster  sustainability. ”Celebrating Earth Hour aligns with Marriott International’s sustainability & social impact  platform, Serve 360, and reflects a philosophy we aim to practice year-round that we all must do our  part to “do good in every direction”, says Lucia Liu, General Manager of The Laguna Bali.

As the celebration continues, guests are entertained by performances and a beautiful sand sculpture  setup in the background of gently lapping waves, sitting under the light of the dazzling stars that have  never looked so clear. Each year, in support of the Earth Hour celebration, The Laguna's sand artist,  Wayan Sukariana, creates beautiful sand sculptures on the resort’s beach. This year, a Jalak Bali  sculpture will be displayed to raise awareness about this endangered creature. It’s fascinating to note  that this bird can’t be found anywhere else in Indonesia. As the community becomes more eco conscious, The Laguna Bali will continue to support and create sustainable and memorable guest  experiences.
