We’ve already compiled the list of music festivals coming to Indonesia in 2019 as well as some exciting events in Bali this year. Now, we would like to let you know the list of Indonesian festivals coming this year as well. This long list could be your guide while planning for an exciting trip to Indonesia this year. Please note that the date might be changed or postponed, so please call the local tourism department in advance.

1. Cap Go Meh, West Kalimantan, 5th – 19th February 2019

This Chinese-based tourism event is one of the mainstays in bringing foreign tourists to West Kalimantan. Recorded in 2017 as many as 26 Ambassadors from various countries came to see the Cap Go Meh festival. This event is held regularly every year, exactly the 15th day after the celebration of the Chinese New Year. Hundreds of tatung/loya parade around the city with extreme attractions along with a group of drummers to drive away evil spirits. The annual Cap Go Meh Festival is centered in the city of Singkawang.

Penyengat Island Festival, Riau Island, 14th – 18th February 2019

Festival Pulau Penyengat or Penyengat Island Festival is an activity carried out in one of the Tanjungpinang City Superior Destinations that has been held since 2016. The competition on the festival, include the Ganggak Gasing Competition, Jong Competition, Sampan Rowing Competition, Screen Sampling Competition, Duck Blocking Contest, Pillow Race Contest, Rhyme Reply Competition, Syarhil Gurindam Competition, Carnaval Fashion, Azanzi Competition, Painting and Coloring Competition, Malay Culinary Festival, and Decorative Becak Competition.

2. Jailolo Bay Festival, North Maluku, 3rd – 5th March 2019

Festival Teluk Jailolo or Jailolo Bay Festival is a West Hamaherah regional festival by elevating a blend of culture and natural beauty. As well as community friendliness with a series of activities, such as Regional Cultural Arts Appearance, Special Regional Craft Exhibition, Variety of Attractive Activities, and more.

3. Bangka Culture Wave, Bangka Belitung Island, 24th March – 4th April 2019

This Bangka Culture Wave Festival brings interactive and educational performances. Inviting the general public to be able to interact and learn directly with the art performances. The event concept is a combination of Ethnic and culture, letting people know the cultural literacy of Bangka. Here, we will also be introduced to Bangka special cuisine through a bazaar of traditional foods and cheap markets.

4. Tour de Bintan, Riau Island, 29th – 31st March 2019

Indonesian Festivals in 2019

Tour de Bintan is one of the international bicycle race events. It is attended by participants from 40 countries around the world testing endurance in cycling. While cycling, contestants will cross the hills, forests, and beautiful beaches through the central area of Bintan Island. The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) officially announces that the Tour De Bintan event is definitely included in the important match calendar for the 2018 Grand Fondo World Series category.

5. Tomini Bay Festival, Central Sulawesi, 1st April – 10th October 2019

The Tomini Bay Festival reveals the cultural wisdom of the past, which has been submerged for hundreds of years. It is then reappeared wrapped in the packaging of performing arts attractions that revive wise and noble cultural values.

6. Gebyar Pesona Budaya Garut, West Java, 20 – 21 April 2019

Organized by the Office of Tourism and Culture of Garut Regency, this event is also supported by the Superior Multi Products Exhibition and the Garut Automotive Community. Gebyar Pesona Budaya Garut aims as an effort to preserve, foster, develop, and empower traditional arts combined with modern music. It is also channeling activities and creativity as well as strengthening the relationship between artists in West Java.
